A Little Tale About Turquoise

A Little Tale About Turquoise

There's a lot to love about turquoise!

The variation in color, the striation and more have made this special gem one that's been treasured by a multitude of ancient cultures and beyond.

Turquoise is comprised of copper and aluminum phosphate but depending on its host rock, can take on different colors and shades from light blue to deep teal and green. The location of the mine can also affect the veining (black/brown/white lines) called matrix.

Usually found in deserts and drier areas where copper occurs, there are mines throughout the world with some of the most desirable turquoise coming from right here in the US.

States like Nevada and Arizona have notable mines including some you may have heard of before - Such as, "Sleeping Beauty," (this mine produces a bright, uniform turquoise) and "Kingman," -which is where the turquoise used in the "Sedona Sunset" macramé bracelet is mined from!

Each bead is unique, formed from naturally occurring turquoise with gorgeous matrix and a myriad of blue-green shades.

Thought to bring protection to the wearer, a connection with nature and the ideal of movement forward rather than becoming stalled out seeking perfection, these bracelets center around taking small, positive steps forward towards your dreams. - "Sedona Sunset" macramé bracelet available starting October 1st 2025 at 6:30pm(et)

(a behind the scenes of making in action + the motivating sticker and cute other ones like it can be found at Book Love online or in The Pinehills Plymouth, MA)
